If you鈥檙e feeling stressed, depressed, overwhelmed, or just unhappy and you鈥檇 like to talk to someone, Student Counseling Services has free appointments for students. In addition to one-on-one counseling, they can connect you with Crisis Support and other on- and off-campus resources that can help.

Moffitt Health CenterWant to Talk to a Doctor or Nurse?

Student Health Services at Moffitt Health Center鈥攍ocated in Scott Hall on the Hattiesburg campus鈥攐ffers comprehensive health care to students. You can also tell your doctor or nurse about any mental or emotional problems you're having, and they can help you find the best place to go for support.

Need Crisis Support?

If you are having thoughts of harming yourself or others, are experiencing severe mental health symptoms, or
believe you are losing touch with reality, call 988. The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline is free, confidential, and available 24/7 to students on the Hattiesburg campus. 

If you are not currently on the Hattiesburg campus (i.e. off campus, out of state or on the Gulf Park campus), please dial 911 to be connected with local support persons who can help.


Need Help Close to Home?

Dial 2-1-1 for information on vital local services. 2-1-1 is free, confidential and available Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.  2-1-1 is multilingual and staffed by Navigators ready to help you find the connections you need, including mental health treatment and support, anger management, substance abuse, crisis intervention and more.


Are You Unsafe at Home?

If you are experiencing domestic violence or threats of violence, The Shafer Center for Crisis Intervention has a 24-hour help line (601.264.7777). They provide an emergency shelter, rape crisis response in hospitals, court advocacy, housing assistance, support groups, and childrens' programs.

The Domestic Abuse Family Shelter, a United Way agency, provides a crisis line, temporary emergency shelter, counseling, childcare, victim advocacy, and education groups for batterers.

If you are in immediate danger, call 9-1-1.


CARESWorried About Another Student?

欧美AV CARES is a team of campus professional who respond to reports of concern regarding the academic progress and well-being of students. CARES reports address concerns related to persons making threats to harm themselves or others that pose a significant threat to the University and/or its community.
