Hattiesburg Enrollment Checklist

Page Content

Prior to your Orientation session, an advisor will contact you about advisement and class schedule. Most advisors will contact you at your Southern Miss email address, so be sure that you have activated this account and check it regularly. At Orientation, you will confirm your class schedule and have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about your degree plan.

Orientation is an ideal opportunity to get a clear understanding of what you may owe for the upcoming semester after your financial aid and scholarships have been applied to your account. Financial Aid and Undergraduate Scholarships will be on hand at Orientation. Business Services will begin generating invoices in July. Student invoices can be viewed only in SOAR. (Paper bills are not mailed.) The deadline to pay in full or enroll in an installment payment plan is August 10.
Students can grant levels of access to parents/guardians, controlling what information can be viewed and enabling the ability to make payments. Click here for instructions. If you have questions or need assistance, contact the Office of the Registrar at 601.266.5006.

2025 Freshman Move-In will take place August 12-13. (Students participating in CPC sorority formal recruitment will move in on August 8.)

2025 Golden Eagle Welcome Week (or GEWW for short) will take place August 13-17 before the fall semester starts on August 18. During GEWW, new students will have plenty of fun opportunities to meet people, participate in core Golden Eagle traditions like Painting the Eagle Walk, and make helpful connections all over campus and in Hattiesburg. The Office of Leadership and Student Involvement coordinates GEWW, and more information can be found here.
UNV 100 is a required 1 credit hour course for new students at Southern Miss. UNV 100 is coordinated by the Office of Leadership and Student Involvement, and more information can be found here.
