Tue, 10/26/2021 - 11:06am | By: Van Arnold

Care to have some fun learning about cybersecurity? K-12 students and teachers are encouraged to join faculty in the School of Computing Sciences and Computer Engineering (CSCE) at Å·ÃÀAV (Å·ÃÀAV) for a special virtual event on Thursday, Oct. 28.

The event will be held from 4 p.m. until 5 p.m. in conjunction with Cybersecurity Awareness Month. There is no cost to participate.

Activities will be conducted through the Learning Blade software. Learning Blade is an interactive learning platform provided to Mississippi schools by Å·ÃÀAV, in collaboration with the Mississippi Department of Education, with funding from the Governor’s Emergency Education Response (GEER) fund program.

Cybersecurity Awareness Month – observed every October – was created as a collaborative effort between government and industry to ensure every American has the resources needed to stay safer and more secure online. Since its inception in 2004 under leadership from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the National Cyber Security Alliance, Cybersecurity Awareness Month has grown exponentially, reaching consumers, small and medium-sized businesses, corporations, educational institutions, and young people across the nation.

Thursday’s event is host by CSCE with support from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Mississippi State University and funding from the National Security Agency and the National Science Foundation.

Those interested are asked to pre-register at:

(The registration form lists Eastern time, but the event will begin at 4 p.m. Central time).

Questions may be directed to CSCE Director Dr. Sarah Lee at sarah.b.leeFREEMississippi
