Explore Coastal Mississippi this summer like never before! 

This four-day camp will take campers to explore the sandy beaches of some of the Northern Gulf of Mexico's most important islands. Campers will learn about island ecology and the geography of Mississippi's islands. The adventure embarks on beach days and marsh tours before setting out later in the week to explore Deer Island and Cat Island and learn about Coastal Preserves.

In Island Adventure Camp you will:

  • Learn the geographical location and about the importance of islands in the Gulf of Mexico
  • Interact with GCRL scientists that study island ecology 
  • Learn about island formation and the geological history of the northern Gulf
  • Explore sandy beaches of Mississippi's coast
  • Travel aboard the Miss Peetsy B Educational Vessel to Deer Island, Mississippi
  • Travel aboard the R/V Jim Franks to Cat Island, Mississippi

 

Island Adventure camp is a four (4) day camp with sessions held on Monday through Thursday from 8:00AM - 3:30PM.

 

Online Registration - Registration for Island Adventure Camp is offered only online. Paper forms are no longer used. University faculty, staff, and students recieve 10% Discount on camp tuition!

The fee is $350 per student. Camp registration requires a $100 non-refundable deposit.
