Archival Certificate

The School of Library and Information Science offers an 18-credit hour graduate certificate program in archives and special collections.

The program aims to prepare students for careers in archives and related fields at archival and special collections repositories and other research institutions. It combines online courses related to archival history, theory, methods, organization, and ethics, with an archival practicum, which can be arranged at an approved repository near the student.

Except for the practicum, the certificate program is completed entirely online and can be earned with an MLIS degree, a related master鈥檚 degree, or as post-master鈥檚 certificate for those holding an MLIS or master鈥檚 degree in a related field. No GRE or other test score is required. If completing the certificate concurrently with a master鈥檚, students can share up to 12 credit hours between their certificate and their degree program.
