_____Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Nursing from a fully accredited, National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, college, or university in the United States. BSN must have been completed at the time of application. The didactic portion of the BSN or MSN program may not be a pass or fail-graded program
_____ Completion of the Graduate Record Examination (verbal, quantitative, and analytical writing sections) within the past five years. An analytical score of at least 3.0 on the GRE is required.
_____ A current, valid unencumbered license to practice nursing in any state with eligibility for licensure in Mississippi is required.
_____ Proof of current certification of advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), pediatric advanced life support (PALS), basic life support (BLS), and Critical Care Registered Nurse鈥檚 certification (CCRN).
_____ Currently working full-time as a licensed registered nurse in an area of intensive care nursing (ICU, CVICU, SICU, Neurosurgical ICU, MICU, PICU, Trauma Burn, etc.). At least one (two years preferred) at the time of application is required.
_____CV or Resume submitted
_____Shadow log or CRNA interview completed and submitted
_____College of Nursing & Health Professions application completed and submitted
_____Supplemental NAP Information sheet completed and submitted
_____3 Letters of reference from individuals familiar with your abilities to perform as an ICU nurse. One must be from your current unit supervisor.
_____ A cover letter including a statement of purpose. The statement of purpose should: a) articulate the reason you have chosen nurse anesthesia as a career, b) highlight any personal or professional accomplishments, c) mention your strengths and weaknesses, and d) describe your short/long-range professional goals. The essay is limited to two pages double-spaced. (Times Roman 12 font or Arial 11 font size). Only the first two pages will be read if your essay goes over the limit.
Email reminders to complete your application are sent through the Graduate School system. It is up to the applicant to ensure their file is complete by the June 1st deadline. The Graduate School houses the applications and documents, this is not done within the Nurse Anesthesia Program.
Please do not contact the program or College student services to see if your application is complete. We will contact you at the email you provided in your application if we see a missing component during our application review period.
