Dr. Melissa Kossman

Assistant Professor

Bio

Dr. Melissa Kossman is the Director of the School of Health Professions and an Assistant Professor in the Athletic Training Program. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Athletic Training from Indiana University in 2013 and became a certified athletic trainer. She received her Master of Science degree in Athletic Training from A.T. Still University in 2015 while working as a graduate assistant athletic trainer with Arizona Christian University's football and basketball teams. In 2019, she received her Doctor of Philosophy in Human Movement Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Dr. Kossman's research is focused on understanding cultural phenomenon in the sport environment using mixed methodological approaches. This includes concussion-related education and behaviors, policy design and implementation, and the preparation of healthcare professionals to work in the sport environment.
