Associate Teaching Professor
Bio
Billy Newman has taught in the Legal Studies and Political Science programs since 1993. He now serves as Coordinator of the Legal Studies Program which offers undergraduate degree tracks in both Paralegal and Pre-Law. Billy guided the Paralegal major to its latest re-approval by the American Bar Association in 2022, and he works to ensure that both Paralegal and Pre-Law students receive real world perspectives from Legal Studies instructors (all of whom are experienced attorneys).
An attorney himself for 35 years, Billy's law practice experience includes work in commercial litigation (federal and state courts), First Amendment law, business acquisitions, and Wills/estates. His primary area of practice over the years has been in intellectual property law. He has worked in large litigation law firms and in a solo transactional law practice.
A proud alumnus of Å·ÃÀAV, as a student Billy was inducted into Å·ÃÀAV Hall of Fame.
