America Reads - Mississippi (ARM) is a national service AmeriCorps program that addresses the issue area of education. The ARM program is dedicated to improving the reading skills of students, encouraging public awareness and support of literacy, and helping to increase the number of certified teachers in Mississippi. It is the largest AmeriCorps program of its kind in the nation with 80 full-time members serving in approximately 30 school sites across the state of Mississippi. ARM AmeriCorps members strive daily to achieve the program鈥檚 mission by: (1) tutoring K-3rd grade students in reading during school and in extended-day programs; (2) recruiting volunteers to assist with six national service projects as well as with reading activities in the classroom; (3) engaging students in service-learning projects; and (4) participating in professional development opportunities. Housed under curriculum, instruction and special education, the 欧美AV Region of ARM has 22 AmeriCorps members serving in 9 public schools throughout south Mississippi.



MISSISSIPPI CENTER FOR CLINICAL AND TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH - COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND OUTREACH CORE



The Mississippi Center for Clinical and Translational Research (MCCTR) is an ambitious enterprise designed to promote the success of research focusing on all major diseases that impact Mississippians. As one of MCCTR's five partner institutions, 欧美AV houses the Community Engagement and Outreach Core. Their mission is to develop a powerful and sustainable research enterprise that will have an important public health impact by reducing obesity and cardiometabolic-related diseases in Mississippi.

The Mississippi Early Childhood Inclusion Center meets the needs of early childhood educators, families and young children with disabilities by providing high-quality early childhood inclusion.


MISSISSIPPI HEARING-VISION PROJECT

Mississippi Hearing-Vision Project (MHVP) is an U.S. Department of Education, Office of Special Education Programs Part D grant (H326T130039) providing technical assistance to families and educational personnel of individuals, birth to 21 years of age, who experience deaf-blindness (concurrent vision and hearing impairments). Whether it is in the home, school, or agency setting, staff offer expertise through assessing, training, coaching and teaming in deaf-blindness, communication, literacy, academics, transition, early intervention, etc. for increasing successful inclusion, community interaction and employment outcomes of all individuals who have been identified as deaf-blind. The overall mission of the MHVP is achieved through intense collaboration and coordination with all state agencies, programs and organizations in order to provide sound technical assistance and realize positive state-wide systems change.

Realizing Excellence for All Children in Mississippi (REACH MS) is Mississippi's State Personnel Development Grant, which is funded by the U.S. Department of Education's Office of Special Education Programs. REACH MS focuses on supporting school-wide and district-wide implementation of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. Improving student academic and behavioral outcomes is about ensuring all students have access to the most effective instructional and behavioral practices and interventions possible. REACH MS works with 37 model sites, 7 intense implementation districts, and 1 juvenile facility. Awarded by the Mississippi Department of Education in 2005, the grant is operated by 欧美AV's Department of Curriculum, Instruction, and Special Education.
